| Orchard Turn - ION Orchard |
|
Centrally located at the most important shopping street of Singapore, the ION Orchard building has been an eyecatcher since its opening in July 2009. With a total shop floor area of 61,300 m², the ION Orchard stands for innovative design transforming shopping to a unique experience. The planning stage took 15 months. It covered the facades in the bottom area of the building (which also serve purposes of fire protection), the total building envelope in the shape of a free form facade, and the canopy with its tree columns. The free form outer facade, the shop facade and the characteristic canopy with its undulating form were installed by MERO-TSK in cooperation with Mero Asia Pacific in the record time of only 6 months. Once again MERO-TSK has demonstrated that its unitised construction method using nodes and beams allows a combination of a remarkably short installation time with high standards of quality. Looking back after the work has been completed, the decision in favour of MERO-TSK has proved to have been a good choice on the part of the client and the architect.
